Caroline Ncube holds the DSI/NRF SARChI Research Chair in Intellectual Property, Innovation and Development at the University of Cape Town. She also lectures on the WIPO-ARIPO-Africa University Masters Degree in IP. She is an Associate Member, of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, University of Ottawa. She is an expert for WIPO, ECA, SADC and a member of the African Policy, Research & Advisory Group on STI. She is a co-editor of  the South African IP Law Journal  and serves on the editorial boards of several journals including the Journal of World IP. She is a co-leader of the Open African Innovation Research partnership and participates in several other research projects.

She is one of the co-founders of the SAIPLJ. She holds a BA(Hons), LLB and PhD degrees from Cape Town, and LLMs from London and Turin. She convenes and teaches intellectual property courses at LLB and postgraduate level and has published locally and internationally on the subject.
